Towns and villages of tradition

Located in the center of the Val di Cornia, and more specifically in the town of Sassetta, Villa Sant'Anna is the ideal starting point to visit the heart of Tuscany.

Nearby are indeed many Etruscan areas, like Baratti and Populonia whose archaeological sites are a vivid testimony of its former glory.

Going a little further North, we meet villages and hamlets of a past period as Bolgheri, Suvereto and Castagneto Carducci, whose restaurants are one of the most vivid expressions of the Tuscany cuisine.
Eastwards, Volterra and San Gimignano deserve a visit being one of the most interesting medieval towns of the area in terms of conservation of urban and cultural heritage.

Siena, Pisa and Florence

In maximum two-hour drive from the farm, or by train, you can easily reach three of the most important cities of Tuscany, as well as cultural heritage of humanity:
Siena, Pisa and Florence.

Siena, located in the East of Villa Sant'Anna, is a town of Etruscan settlement which experienced its heyday in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, consolidating over the centuries some traditions that still shine very alive in the hearts of its citizens: the Palio di Siena is in fact one of the most exciting and spectacular horse races that inflames the heart of the entire city. On this occasion Siena is divided into districts waving flags, coats of arms and showing traditional costumes.

If we proceed from the farm to the North it is possible, in an hour or so, to reach the city of Pisa passing, why not, the coast of Livorno to enjoy one of the most beautiful seas of rock in Tuscany. Once in Pisa, former maritime republic and interesting testimony of medieval times, you have to visit the beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli with the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the famous Leaning Tower.

And finally, in a two-hour drive from Villa Sant'Anna, Florence is defined not by chance "The Cradle of the Renaissance".

Sea Locations

If you love the sea, the sun, and you can not help but come back from vacation super tanned, there are lots of wonderful places and seaside resorts close to our farm.

The nearest place is the Gulf of Baratti, beautiful beach with crystal clear seawater.

A little further North, the coast of Livorno offers instead the opportunity to dive in its beautiful rocky coastline. All along the coastline, called Romito, you can get off at various places such as Cala del Leone, Sassoscritto for those who practice naturism or Calafuria or Castel Sonnino.
But over all, the seaside resort that more than anything else is worth visiting is the descent towards Cala Violina, a real splendor as in water clarity, enjoyment of landscape and natural surroundings.
